#15 Large Living Room

The client wanted to add color, sparkle and give a personality to this room all it’s own. Her love for animals and travel are also reflected in her accessories scattered throughout this room.
 
The focal point and also the start of the color scheme in this room was the custom designed hand woven area rug with the monkey motif on the four corners.
 
The furniture was strategically placed so the monkeys were not hidden, a request by the client. This room was very large and impersonal and the red decorative paint finish lends a feeling of enclosure and warmth. The room has three distinct areas with the rug tying them all together. The fireplace surround was refinished with a gold honed marble.
 
In working with a lighting designer low voltage lighting both for ambience and accent art lighting was added on a very sophisticated Lutron dimming system. This system has created different moods and scenes all of which enhance the wonderful ambience of this space.
 
I was involved in all aspects of design in this space from conceptualizing down to the small details.
