#12 Master Bath

This client wanted to incorporate her love of nature, animals, and insects in an unusual way and in every area of the remodel of her home. When it came to the master bath, an artist was commissioned and I worked closely with him to design this handmade "mural" backsplash using mosaic pieces and ceramic sculpture.

The client's "favorite" insects are scattered throughout the mural, with the giant philodendron leaves providing a dramatic background. The large leaf on the right also doubles as a light sconce.

All other colors and finishes in this space, which I designed, are downplayed to give emphasis to this exquisite area. The sculptural cabinets are deceptive in that they have very functional storage behind closed doors.
 
The walls have a soft green glaze, the floors are of natural stone, which are brown to blend with the theme of nature. Full height mirrored closet doors were custom built to enhance the design of the space, and a textured area rug was added for softness.
