#11 Eclectic Powder Room
The client wanted an eclectic flavor in the style of her home and wanted to surround herself with objects she loved rather than capture one particular style.
She fell in love with this glass sink and I felt it was too modern, even for her unusual home. She "insisted" on using it, so I accepted the challenge and designed the surrounding details to tone down the contemporary sink. Custom designed cabinetry in dark cherry, walls upholstered in a tropical motif, and the shuttered window all contributed in making this a warm, soft, and welcoming powder room. All of the different details blend seamlessly. The floor, which is not visible in this photograph, has limestone interspersed with triangles of other colors in order to tie in the colors of the fabric on the walls.
The space of the powder room was very dark and to provide natural light during the day, a Solatube was added in the ceiling.
